COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
BATTERY-CHARGER, MEDICAL ANALYZER
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This Commercial Item Description covers a medical battery analyzer/charger for use by medical maintenance activities.
Salient characteristics:
The analyzer/charger shall be suitable for use by medical maintenance activities to charge and analyze batteries used within medical equipment. It shall be capable of cycling and analyzing three (or more) nickel cadmium battery packs simultaneously. The three battery packs will not necessarily be of the same type. The analyzer/charger shall fully charge the battery pack to be tested, discharge the battery pack to one volt per cell and display milliamp capacity, and then fully charge the battery pack to complete the cycle. It shall have individual readouts for each battery pack for which it is capable of testing. After each test cycle the readout shall remain until the reset button is pushed. All phases of analyzer operation shall be automatic except reset of readout. The analyzer/charger shall be operable in discharge mode only to provide a test for state of charge. It shall be able to charge/analyze battery packs ranging from at least 4.8 to 20 volts and a cell capacity of at least between 500 and 4000 mAH. It shall be provided with a hard-sided carrying case to house and protect the unit and accessories. The analyzer/charger shall have a visual LED display for each of the three packs which also indicates charge, discharge and milliamp-hour rating, and an LED to indicate the packs currently activated. It shall have all logic and control positive with respect to ground. The analyzer/charger shall operate quietly and shall be furnished with battery holder for:
a. Datascope monitor models 850, 860, and 861.
